About the University	Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. At present it comprises nine faculties with more than 200 departments, institutes and clinics. Recognized as one of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a highly-regarded Central European university, it has been marked by a strong democratic spirit ever since its establishment in 1919. The university also plays a major role in the social and cultural life of the South Moravia Region.

Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your English proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. Students from the English taught LLB and LLM programme are exempt from this requirement.
Important information	The academic year is divided into two semesters, autumn and spring. Each semester contains from 12 to 15 weeks of lectures (this varies from faculty to faculty) followed by a six to eight week examination period. Term calendar Autumn semester: mid-September - mid-December (+ examination period January - mid-February) Spring semester: mid-February - mid-May (+ examination period mid-May - end of June) There are no regular university classes in the summer. Exchange students can take all the courses from the provided list, regardless of the level.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found at the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 270 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn whether or not you have been awarded a Erasmus grant and receive more information on the Erasmus grant.
