About the University	NEW PARTNER from 2024/25 !!! - NO REPORTS AVAILABLE YET Founded in 1425, UCLouvain is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Erasmus, Mercator, Vesalius are some of the personalities who frequented it. Georges Lemaître formulated his theory of the Big Bang there and Christian de Duve won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1974. The university welcomes nearly 40.000 students in eight locations in Brussels and Wallonia. Its main campus is in the pedestrianised city of Louvain-la-Neuve. Our university offers courses in all disciplines, from bachelor’s degree to doctoral degree level, as well as many lifelong learning programmes.

Extra requirements	Depending on the language of instruction, you would need to provide a proof of your English or/and French proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. IMPORTANT: If you only intend to follow courses in English in Bologna, make sure to mention it in the remarks field of your Exchange Application form. Even if you choose to only follow courses in English, it is advisable to have at least a basic knowledge of French to assure a comfortable stay in Belgium.
Important information	A French language course is offered free of charge to all Exchange students. Exchange students are requested to follow a compulsory course Contemporary legal Issues: a Belgian perspective. If you wish to only follow courses in English, the Spring semester offer is not sufficient. You would have to fo in the Fall semester! Please know that the offer in English is limited and you will not have a big variety of courses to choose from. The Bachelor students are allowed to enroll into almost all Master level courses. HOUSING: It is very difficult to secure a university housing. We advise you to start searching for accommodation as soon as you were nominated.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found on the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 330 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn more about the Erasmus grant.
