The Law School has been a part of the University's portfolio almost since its foundation, with Law and Language combined programmes dating from the 1960s. Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your English proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. Students from the English taught LLB programme are exempt from this requirement for the internal application process at the UG. Example of the English proficiency required scores by the host university: IELTS 6.5 overall and no less than 6 in Writing and 5.5 in each other element TOEFL 88 overall with minimum 12 in Reading, 11 in Listening, 17 in Speaking and 23 in Writing * for UG students going for a one-semester exchange a Statement of Language Proficiency from the home university suffices (if no Student visa is required) More on the accepted English test results on: https://www.surrey.ac.uk/apply/international/english-language-requirements IMPORTANT CHANGE IN VISA REGULATIONS FROM 2025/2026: The UK Government is introducing an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for travellers entering the UK for up to six months. Important information	Accommodation in University residences is usually only available for students studying for a full year, or enrolling in the second semester only. Students enrolling in the first semester only will not usually be eligible for on-campus accommodation. However, Accommodation Services are happy to receive applications and will do their utmost to find accommodation for inbound exchange students. If on-campus accommodation is not available, students will be given assistance in finding an off-campus alternative. Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found on the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. A Marco Polo grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Marco Polo grant has been set at € 390 per calendar month. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn more about the Marco Polo grant.
