About the University	The Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna boasts a long-standing, prestigious tradition. Its peculiarity lies both in the wide range of study programmes and the intense research activities carried out by the teachers, as well as its efficient organisation and international dimension. The Faculty's long-standing cooperation with the most authoritative law faculties from around the world has led to the exchange of ideas, teachers and students, increasing the Faculty's particular sensitivity to the construction and development of the European dimension of its learning and research curricula. The rapid evolution of our complex and articulated information society and the new concepts of learning have for some time been inspiring the great European Universities to review their teaching methods, creating new disciplinary and inter-disciplinary teaching modes with a concrete view to effective international learning. In this changing economic and social scenario, the Faculty is now called on to implement reforms in its teaching systems, and is ready to provide effective responses to the new, pressing demands of the European higher education system. Through the first and second cycle study programmes available within the Faculty, graduates will possess full knowledge of the legal system, from a historical and philosophical point of view as well as in the fields of private, public, procedural, criminal, economic and comparative law. Students also have the opportunity to spend periods abroad, completing their studies in other, highly qualified universities in and beyond Europe, according to customised scientific and learning programmes. The Faculty uses the most advanced computer technologies, with multimedia classrooms for on-line study, and provides students with linguistic services, libraries and tutor-based personal study assistance. Located in the heart of the city, the Faculty is an important cultural centre of Bologna, serving the community as a place of knowledge in which tradition and innovation blend to assure the constant osmosis between research, learning and the social fabric. For all of these reasons, the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna, a constant forerunner of scientific research, is able to provide its students with all-round cultural learning that fully responds to the professional demands of the world of work.

Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your Italian proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. It is possible to follow only courses in English during an exchange at University of Bologna. However, please check the available courses and inform the exchange officer before applying that you intend only to take the English taught courses. Minimum English level at the moment of application B2 on CEFR scale, at the moment of departure C1 on CERF scale. Students from the English taught LLB and LLM programme are exempt from this requirement.
Important information	The Law degree programme is a 5-year long combined Ba- and Ma- degree. Bachelor students are also allowed to enroll in Master courses during their exchange period abroad.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found at the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 270 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn whether or not you have been awarded a Erasmus grant and receive more information on the Erasmus grant.
