About the University	With 250 professors and 17,000 students, the University of Bremen is a mid-sized university offering a large spectrum of subjects; 100 different study programs organized in 30 academic disciplines. The University was quick to introduce the new structure of Bachelor and Master studies and was awarded the title "Bologna University" by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education. The University of Bremen was founded in 1971. In the course of its relatively short history it has developed into the science center of North West Germany. When it was founded it broke new ground in many ways, earning the label "Bremen Model. Some of these breakthroughs have now become standard features of modern universities. For instance: interdisciplinarity, research-based learning in projects, and social commitment.

Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your German proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. If you intend on taking also courses in English, you would need to provide in addition a proof of your English proficiency. Students from the English taught LLB and LLM programme are exempt from this requirement.
Important information	In Germany there is no possibility to obtain only a Bachelor degree in law. The Law studies in Germany last 5 years and finish with passing a so called "First State Exam", an equivalent to a Master degree. Therefore, the courses available to the exchange students are an equivalent of both Bachelor and Master level.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found at the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 330 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn whether or not you have been awarded a Erasmus grant and receive more information on the Erasmus grant.
