About the University |
Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. Victoria University has 4 campuses based around the centre of the city. The harbour and surrounding hills offer up plenty of activities for visitors, and most of the university and city can be reached on foot.
Our position in the legal decision-making district of Wellington means we offer students, staff and visitors a unique university experience. With the courts and parliament as our close neighbours, we are at the centre of debate, analysis and dialogue about law and legal policy issues in New Zealand. Our conferences and lectures are attended by judges, politicians, practitioners and New Zealand and international academics. It is a rich brew of talent and experience that offers a priceless experience: to interact, debate and rub shoulders with the very best the legal community has to offer. Law at Victoria is taught by the Socratic method. Students are questioned on their set readings during lectures. |

For studying in countries outside Europe students can apply for a grant from the Marco Polo Fund, which comprises of both faculty and university resources. Marco Polo grants do not cover travel and residential expenses completely; they are merely a contribution towards the extra costs involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Marco Polo grant has been set at €170,-- to €290,-- per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty’s partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn whether or not you have been awarded a Marco Polo grant. |
