About the University	Established in 1952, CUPL, is known as the leading law school in China. CUPL has played, and continues to play, a key part in the formation of China's legal system: from the drafting of the 1954 Constitution of the People's republic of China, to the promulgation of the Anti-Secession Law and the enactment and implementation of almost every major law of the Republic. Spread over two campuses (an undergraduate campus in Changping and the postgraduate campus in Beijing city) the University has a total of 817 full time professors. Among them there are 524 law professors, representing the largest law faculty in the world.

Extra requirements	Average mark of 7.0 To study at CUPL, you will need a TOEFL score of at least 90, an IELTS score of at least a 6.0 overall and a minimum score of 5.5 on individual parts of the test or a Cambridge test (CPE or CEA). Only valid tests can be accepted. TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge tests are valid for 2 years only from the date of the test. If you have a high Chinese proficiency, you may also follow the courses in Chinese. The required level is HSK4 certificate with a score 180 or above for the undergraduate courses and HSK5 certificate with score 180 or above for the graduate courses. This can be an internet based or a paper version.
Important information	Bachelor exchange students can attend all the lectures and seminars that are available to LLM students in English. It is not advisable for the Bachelor students to follow the graduate courses in Chinese. Attendance is generally taken for all lectures, tests and examinations, and other academic activities. Students should be present at all of these. Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students is available at the website rug.nl/law/lep. For studying in countries outside Europe students can apply for a grant from the Marco Polo Fund, which comprises of both faculty and university resources. Marco Polo grants do not cover travel and residential expenses completely; they are merely a contribution towards the extra costs involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Marco Polo grant has been set at € 210 - € 330 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive a notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn more about the Marco Polo grant.
