About the University	The University of Bergen (UiB) is an internationally recognised research university. Academic diversity and high quality are fundamental. UiB is the most cited university in Norway. There are six faculties at UiB and there are a total of 14,800 students at the university. Around 1,550 of these are international students. They employ 3,600 staff. The university encourages an environment of freedom of speech and openness where men and women can engage in knowledge-based and critical reflection while contributing to the advancement of knowledge. The Faculty of Law is located in the centre of Bergen, overlooking the Bergen fjord. At the Faculty of Law the focus is on high quality research and teaching within a variety of legal areas. The international profile is reflected both in research activities and in the substantial number of students which they have the pleasure of welcoming every semester. It is also seen in the number of students from the Faculty travelling abroad.

Extra requirements	You would need to provide a proof of your English proficiency: an equivalent to a CEFR level B2 at the moment of application and C1 at the moment of departure. Students from the English taught LLB and LLM programme are exempt from this requirement.
Important information	Starting from 2023-24, the University offers English taught courses on a Bachelor level. This means that the Bachelor students will not be allowed to follow a Master level course if it is also available on a Bachelor level. A Bachelor exchange student can in exceptional circumstances attend the lectures and seminars on the Master level. Once nominated, please contact the incoming exchange officer for more information. Strict requirement of minimum 90 ECTS at the moment of application and preferably 120 ECTS before departure.

Financial support / Grants	More information on study and placement grants for law students can be found at the website www.rug.nl/law/lep. An Erasmus+ grant covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses involved in studying abroad. At the moment the Erasmus+ grant has been set at € 270 - € 390 per calendar month, depending on the country of your host university. This may change per academic year. Your application for an exchange period at one of the Faculty's partner universities also counts as your application for a grant. When you receive notification of a place for study abroad, you will also learn whether or not you have been awarded a Erasmus grant and receive more information on the Erasmus grant.
